The Studio · A Demonstration
A small atelier
for large gardens.
Verdier & Co. is a fictional residential landscape architecture practice. We present it here as a portfolio demonstration — a study in identity, voice, and editorial layout for a modern outdoor-design brand.
Manifesto
Five rules
we keep returning to.
- I
The land arrives first.
Survey, light, weather and water precede every drawing.
- II
Materials should age well.
Stone, oak, lime render, oxidised steel — the palette improves with time.
- III
Plant in volumes, not specimens.
Massings of native species, repeated with rhythm, beat the catalogue.
- IV
Edit the view.
Frame what is worth seeing; conceal the rest with planted thresholds.
- V
Design the maintenance.
A garden survives because it is cared for; we plan five years past handover.
